Listed below are job descriptions for the roles that we seek to fill most often within the firm. Many of our clients are Welsh speakers and as such the ability to speak Welsh is essential.
QUALIFIED/PART QUALIFIED ACCOUNTANT - PORTHMADOG
A Qualified or Part Qualified Accountant with a minimum of 3 years experience. There are excellent career prospects at Dunn and Ellis Cyf and we are always searching for enthusiastic individuals to join our team.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Complete year end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. Submit limited company accounts to Companies House and HMRC.
• Have a detailed understanding of VAT and management accounting procedures.
• Competent in the use of accounting software, including but not limited to, Sage, Quickbooks, and Xero.
• Draft and finalise self-assessment tax computations and submit personal, partnership and corporation tax returns.
• Undertake other reasonable business tasks as required by the directors.
Requirements:
• Qualified or Part Qualified ACA, ACCA or CTA, AAT, ATT qualified or qualified by experience.
• Able to work to deadlines and wish to exceed client’s expectations and deliver exceptional customer service.
• Enthusiastic, hardworking and with good communication skills.
• Attention to detail and good technical competency.
• Confident in managing own time and workload.
• Comfortable with mentoring less experienced staff members.
• A team player.
Part Qualified candidates will be given full support in finalising their aspirations of becoming a Qualified Accountant. Many of the current associates and directors in the practice have trained within the firm, which highlights the possible future career prospects.
We note that although the role will be based at our Porthmadog office, we would expect that individuals would be able to travel to various locations to meet with our clients. Travelling expenses shall be reimbursed in-line with HMRC guidelines.

TRAINEE ACCOUNTANT - PORTHMADOG
An opportunity to be part of the team at Dunn & Ellis Cyf. We are looking for applicants who have an interest in business, enthusiastic and ready to learn. We are a training office for ACA, ACCA, CTA, AAT & ATT.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Prepare accounts under supervision for:
- sole traders,
- partnership, and
- limited companies
• Training in our computer systems and software i.e. Iris, Quickbooks, Xero;
• Work towards deadlines with Companies House, HMRC etc.;
• Assist with the preparation of:
- income tax returns
- corporation tax returns and
- VAT returns;
• Any other clerical work that is required by the managers and directors;

BOOKKEEPER - PORTHMADOG
An individual who has a strong background in bookkeeping software such as Sage, Quickbooks, Xero etc.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare quarterly or monthly VAT returns for various business entities through the use of various software packages i.e. Sage, Quickbooks, Xero, etc.;
- Assisting clients to prepare their own VAT returns, check the clients VAT figures, complete, and submit VAT using MTD compliant software on behalf of clients;
- Contacting clients to remind them to bring in their financial records in sufficient time to prepare their VAT return and ensure clients are aware of all filing deadlines;
- Ensure that VAT deadlines are met, returns are prepared within a reasonable timeframe after receiving the records and VAT return figures are accurate and correct;
- Contacting clients to agree the VAT return figures and advise on how to pay any amount that is due to HMRC;
- Ensuring management account tasks are carried out on a quarterly basis, to include (but not limited to) the following:
Bank reconciliation
Creditors control
Debtors control - Co-ordinate effectively with accounts department staff, ensuring that clients accounting records are transferred on time to prepare year-end financial accounts and raising any matters that arise promptly;
- Any other clerical work that is required by the managers and directors;
- The ability to speak Welsh is essential.
